S.A.F.E.R. Success in DC
Freedom Plaza was busy on Sunday with people braving the sun and heat to support the Second Amendment. The approximately 400 people who turned out heard speakers Shemane Nugent, who spoke as a mother; the Reverend Joyce Smith, speaking from the point of view of the gun; Author John Lott, who declared the rally the “Real March for Women’s Lives”; Kay Daly, spearhead of the Coalition for a Fair Judiciary. Also speaking was Niger Innis, spokesman for the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), and 16-year-old Sarah Roush, Miss New Mexico Junior Teen. Comedienne Julia Gorin, who is also an opinion writer and contributing editor for FoxNews.com, hosted the event.

Many came on busses from neighboring states, though attendees flew in from as far away as California to support the rights protected by the Second Amendment.
Though the rally in 2000 brought in about 4,000 supporters of the constitution, the attending 400 was a resounding success. The Second Amendment Sisters had a 10% showing of the original. The so-called Million Mom March, on the other hand, had an estimated 2,000 attendees at this year’s event. Going by their purported and much bragged about 750,000 figures from 2000; they had a whopping .3% of their original attendees (you saw the decimal point in front of the 3, right?). This means that we had a 3,000 times better showing in support of our cause than they did for theirs! So for low attendance, I would call the rally an unarguable success all the way around.
A "Mommie" walking by our rally flipped us the finger and shouted an obscenity, and in response was greeted with smiles and calls of “Happy Mother’s Day!” - again, the side of right showing the grace and dignity that all women would be blessed to possess. -- Jen Zordan, CT State Coordinator
