From this week (10/29/2011):
I hope this week has been a good one for you all. Here in Hanover, we had a real scare. An 8-year-old autistic child ran away from his father in a heavily wooded park last Sunday. He had been missing all week and massive searches were conducted by professionals and volunteers. Yesterday, the child was found, alive and well. He was, of course, dehydrated and had some minor cuts and scrapes, but is in remarkably good condition for spending almost 6 full days in the elements. The rescue came just in the nick of time, as a nor’easter blew in last night and the weather has turned cold and wet. We witnessed a miracle this week!
Now on to the second amendment stuff. As many of you know, the vast majority of college campuses think that freedom and the God-given right to self preservation stops at their threshold. This subject is a hot topic and some think that our “children” can’t be trusted to defend themselves. Yet these same “children” are relied upon to defend our country in many instances.
A group called Students for Concealed Carry on Campus is endeavoring to gain the right for concealed carry permit holders to be allowed to carry on campus. These are not irresponsible children, they are…by law…over 21 years old, have taken government mandated training and have passed a background check. Many are professors, administrators and seasoned veterans going to college on the GI bill. In addition, it has been shown that if and when a crazed maniac like Cho decides to commit mass murder, they tend to first choose defenseless victims, and second they give up when met with resistance. This would suggest to us that our best first line of defense is to arm ourselves and to not be willing, compliant victims.
During the months of November and early December, the Virginia Citizens Defense League, Students for Concealed Carry and other civic minded campus organizations will be staging demonstrations to draw attention to this travesty of justice. I urge you to consider participating. In addition, if you have ever donated to a college which bans legal carry on campus, please consider letting them know “No Guns, NO FUNDS”; in other words, we will not donate our hard earned dollars to schools that don’t respect our rights!
Finally, I would suggest that you set our web page, www.2asisters.org, as your home page. The site is updated daily with pertinent links and articles, helping you keep abreast of things developing across our nation.

From last week (10/22/2011):
There have been a lot of emails floating around lately, some true, some not so much.
First, let's start with the not-so-much! The email about George Soros owning Cerberus, owner of Freedom Group is FALSE! While it is true that Freedom Group has bought a number of gun-related companies, it is not affiliated with George Soros. You can breathe a sigh of relief on that count.
Next, let's move on to Fast and Furious. This one is serious. In what appears to be a blatant attempt to "prove" that American guns are fueling violence south of the border, the BATFE has deliberately facilitated sales to known felons, gun runners and drug lords. These guns did not just go to Mexico, but were sold to known gangs WITHIN OUR BORDERS! The lid blew off the entire operation when Border Patrol Agent Terry was murdered with one of the guns from this "sting".
This entire operation was, and continues to be, a travesty of justice and a misuse of the authority granted to the BATFE by us, the American Citizen. Those responsible need to be held criminally accountable. To that end, Second Amendment Sisters is drafting a letter to Congress on behalf of you, our membership, demanding that justice be done...and that does not mean promoting the heads of the departments who authorized this illegal activity.
For more details on what has been going on with Fast and Furious, please go to our web site at www.2asisters.org. On the front page you will find a lot of articles about F&F and be able to see how events unfolded in the media, including recent revelations showing that AG Eric Holder lied to Congress under oath. You will also find many other articles that may interest you. Please explore our newly redesigned site and let us know what you think of it!
